We wanted to bring a tiny slice of woodland magic right to your hoop. This mushroom embroidery pattern PDF features the most classic, nostalgic forest find: the bright red toadstool.
We skipped the flat, boring fill stitches here. Instead, we used a variety of techniques to make the textures really pop. The bright red caps are stitched to look incredibly smooth and plump.
We added raised, three-dimensional knots for the white polka dots. They practically jump off the fabric. For the stems, we ditched solid colors entirely.
We used varied black straight lines to create a really cool, vintage print-like texture. A few dark leaves and tiny red berries balance the whole scene perfectly. It is a wonderfully vibrant project that is just so much fun to touch.

When I was little, I was obsessed with illustrated fairy tale books. Every single one of them had these bright red mushrooms somewhere in the drawings.
To me, they always felt like the secret entrance to the forest. They were the homes of fairies and tiny woodland creatures. They represented this totally unrestrained, wild imagination.
Even now, as an adult, I have such a soft spot for them. They are not just something you forage for dinner, they are little companions from my childhood.

The Plump Red Caps – Satin Stitch

Outlines, Stems, & Plants – Back Stitch & Straight Stitch
